Blackberry Cobbler

1 ¼ cup flour, divided

1 ½ teaspoons baking powder

¼ teaspoon salt

½ cup butter, plus 3 tablespoons

1 cup sugar, divided

1 egg

1 cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla

3 cups fresh blackberries

½ teaspoon cinnamon

 

Mix together 1 cup flour, baking powder and salt.  In a separate bowl, combine ½ cup butter and ½ cup butter and ½ cup sugar and beat until fluffy.  Add egg and continue beating until fluffy.  Add milk and vanilla to flour mixture and combine with butter mixture mixing well until all ingredients are combined.  Pour mixture into well greased 12” Dutch oven then spoon berries over batter.  Combine remaining sugar, flour, cinnamon and butter and mix until crumbly.  Sprinkle mixture over berries.  Bake over medium heat for 45 minutes, adding top coals after mixture begins to boil.
